How do you feel about Tatoos?
by Fisherman ini feel very offended and distrurbed when i see people covered with tatoos.
some people have tatoos all over their bodies, even on their faces.
there are also tatoo programs on the tlc channel that children can watch without a forewarning before the show comes on.

Tonsillectomies?
by BlackSwan of Memphis inmy oldest is having her tonsils and adenoids out on monday.
the doctor will also be maybe putting tubes in her ears if sees that theres a problem, as he will be doing some work in her ears during the same surgery.. i've read all the information they've given us, doesn't seem like a huge deal.. i'm wondering though how many have either had their tonsils out as children and remember the experience or how many have had children who have the surgery.. i would just like to know from others what i might be able to expect.. any input?.

Black swan, I've heard that if you have them removed when you are younger it is better than if you were say in your 20's or older. So having them removed young is the better way to go I think. It's not too difficult to take care for one who had that done....I remember sleeping a lot and watching cartoons. I didn't want to eat too much either because of the sore throat afterwards. I think the worst thing for me was the sore throat and the medicine I had to take afterwards made me quite ill, so I vomited a lot. I now put that on my list of medicine's to stay away from

I had my tonsils removed when I was in the 4th grade. It hurt for awhile afterwards, but that is obvious. The actual surgery went well though, it's a fairly easy procedure I believe. I remember eating a lot of ice cream, jello and other soft cool foods. And everyone waited on me hand and foot. Oh, and for once in my lifetime, my sister was unconditionally nice to me. All in all, it was fine and I'm better off without them. I had strep throat for a year straight, so I don't have that problem anymore.
Hope everything goes well during the surgery. I'm sure it will

I can't wait to get my tat personally. I have wanted one for so long and now I will get one, when someone special goes with me to hold my hand
I agree fully with whoever it was that said "if you don't like tatoo's....don't look at them" That's it completely!!!! If I don't like seeing homosexuals kissing, I look away!!!! if it bothers you so much to see something, you pretend it isn't there. Obviously you won't be getting one yourself, but don't judge those of us who want one or already have one or more! It's not like people that have tat's are evil or that it will HURT you personally if someone else has them...quit being so judgemental! Many tatoo's are very beautiful and have meaning to those who wear them.
I can't stand people that say that something bothers them like this because it's so insignificant and it has no bearing on what you do in your life...does it?

Have you heard of this yet?
by Calico Ethel ini just talked to my mom (dub) yesterday, which was poorly timed (after there meeting).
she tells me that the speaker said in his talk that there are two sides in this world - jehovah's side and satan's side.
if you are not on jehovah's side, then you are on satan's side.

Thanks kerj...I think it's a good start too. But instead of telling her over the phone I may just write to her...what do you think? We both get really emotional and I don't want to argue with her either. Also, I think if I send her a letter then her and my dad can read it together, that way if she passes out, he'll be there to help her. I'm seriously not joking about that either. I think something bad will happen when I tell her about it because I'm her favored child out of the 3 and I think this will just kill her when I tell her how I feel. I know I'm just saying that because I've been putting it off for awhile now, but I'm dreading telling her it. I thought I could just go on and let her continue to talk all she wanted to about stuff, but I can't stand to hear it anymore and that's the only reason why I'm deciding to tell her now.

OH I also forgot to say how lucky I am that my mom is going to send me the new special tract they are out placing because I live in a secured apartment building....YEAH (note the sarcasm!!!) She also sent me the last book that they published and released at the D.C., but of course I haven't read it and must say that I won't. I think it's time to tell my mom that I don't plan on going back to meetings and that I don't want to hear anymore of this stuff she talks about because it's so unloving.
Any suggestions on how I should go about doing that without giving my mom a heart attack? I still love her, but this nonsense she talks about has to stop, it's too depressing.

I just talked to my mom (dub) yesterday, which was poorly timed (after there meeting). She tells me that the speaker said in his talk that there are two sides in this world - Jehovah's side and Satan's side. If you are not on Jehovah's side, then you are on Satan's side. And if you are on Satan's side, then you agree with all that he condone's like murder, rape, homosexuality, abortion, etc....
How is that possible that someone would think that if they don't agree with one thing they must agree with all the opposite things? It is possible to not agree with murder, rape, etc. and still be a good person. I know this from personal experience, myself, my friends....
Also, she stated that an "experience" was given of an elderly woman who is restricted to a wheelchair goes out in service all by herself and if she can't get to a home in her wheelchair, she gets out of it and crawls on her hands and knees over gravel if need be. WHAT????? Are they serious? I think they just say this stuff to make people feel bad about themselves. They will say anything to get people to do what they want them to do(i.e. spend there whole life out in service). My mom feels horrible that she doesn't do that herself.....this is one of the reasons why I'm done with it all. I have better self-esteem now that I don't feel guilted into doing something I don't want to do.
These are just my opinions though.

What do you think about gays and abortion now.......................?????
by vitty inwhen you saw the wt for what it was and realized it was not the truth, how did that affect your thoughts on subjects like homosexuality or abortion for example.. did you start to think differently suddenly or did it take a long time ?.................or maybe you havent changed your minds on what the wt condemns.. i was quite shocked at how i accepted my teenage son was sexually active and i talked to him about condoms and this being an important thing in his and gfs life and where they sure they were ready.
i didnt tell him not to do it !.
actually i think i always had my thoughts on different subjects that werent in line with the org, i just pushed what i really thought to the back of my mind.. there are many different subjects name one that you relate to.. .

I feel the same as many that have posted already to this thread as well. I don't necessarily agree with homosexuality and I definately would never condone an abortion, but what another person does in there life is none of my business. It doesn't affect me personally, so I don't necessarily care what another does. I have had friends that are gay, I don't now, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't in the future. That is one reason why I didn't care if the government opposes gay marriages. A friend of mine says "gays have every right to be just as miserable as straight people". (though he's opposed to getting married himself, thus the comment) And if I had a friend that was considering an abortion, I would strongly suggest adoption to them before going through that. Once you make that decision, you can't take it back. And to me, my thoughts are the same on that subject....you are killing a living human being!!! But this is just my opinion on the subject...to each his own.
